PARKERSBURG — A heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and services company has located in south Parkersburg.

Sid Harvey’s Industries opened in the former General Glass facility, 1900 12th Ave., the area of W.Va. 95 and Blizzard Drive.

“We have an amazing location,” said Doug McClure, area manager and manager of the Parkersburg store. “We’re right here in south Parkersburg.”

It’s the third store in West Virginia for the company that was created in 1931, McClure said. The company also has stores in Morgantown and Huntington in West Virginia.

“It’s a great market with plenty of great customers,” McClure said. “The city has been very supportive and very pro business. That’s always a positive.

“And it’s a growing market,” he said. “There’s opportunity coming this way.”

Sid Harvey’s was established in 1931 in Hempstead, N.Y., by Sidney W. Harvey, originally supplying oil for home heating. The business evolved into other areas, including parts and sales of heating, cooling and commercial refrigeration equipment.

The company operates around 80 more along the East Coast and to the west toward the Rocky Mountains.

Brands include Heil, Fujitsu and Rheem. Sid Harvey’s carries furnaces for home, businesses and mobile homes, air conditioning units and hot water heaters, among other products, he said.

More than 50,000 items are available through its distribution facilities, although many products are available on site ready to be delivered to the contractor, McClure said. Primarily wholesale, Sid Harvey’s also has products for homeowners, such as furnace filters, he said.

The Parkersburg store employs four people, McClure and Kaylyn Arms, Don Thacker and James McIntyre. All are from the area, McClure said.

“I wanted to make sure I had local people,” he said.

Arms has five years of experience in the heating and cooling business.

“There’s been a good amount of foot traffic in and out,” she said. “We’ve been busy.”

Sid Harvey’s is a good company for its employees, McClure said. It’s also a company focused on customer service and community involvement, McClure said.

“They really are a good company to have in your town,” he said.

Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8-noon Saturday. The phone number is 681-588-0023.

A grand opening celebration geared toward contractors will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 25, McClure said. Food, a cake, music and vendor giveaways are planned, he said.
