Parkersburg’s Super Retro Land expands store

2 min read

PARKERSBURG – On Nov. 23, 2015, Super Retro Land opened its doors to the public, and has recently expanded the store because of a vast inventory and desperate need for more space.

Located at 1911 Seventh St., the expansion on the store was done very quickly by using “in house labor,” as owner Alex Tracewell put it.

Super Retro Land has added around 20 more feet to the store, by tearing down a wall and extending the floor space. That has provided more areas for displays and even an area where customers can come in and play some games they have set up.

“This store has been my life for the past months, working hard everyday to give people a little taste of their childhood,” said Tracewell.

What started as just a hobby of collecting old video game systems and other items became much more when a little over eight months ago, Tracewell opened Super Retro Land with the help of his brother, Eli Tracewell.

“This is a store where a person’s inner gamer can come out and just lose the stress of everything and just enjoy themselves while they visiting us,” he said.

The store has video games, apparel and memorabilia from movies, games and comic books.

There are video game systems from the ’80s, ’90s and a few that are even older. The games and systems all are in good condition and the owner is very knowledgeable with all of the items they have in stock, and is very open about why they love the store.

“I love watching the kids coming into the store and seeing them smile at all the older games and toys,” said Tracewell. “This store has such a childhood atmosphere there are days it doesn’t even feel like work.”

The apparel they sell varies, with items located throughout the store for sale. There are shirts for sale, replica items from movies and television shows, posters, and toys.

“The stock in the store is just so immense it is almost impossible to keep track of everything we have here,” said Eli Tracewell.

“I love working here with Alex, there is no better feeling then coming to work with family and helping bring joy to peoples lives,” he said.
