Richard “Dickie” and Linda Blouir of Pennsboro celebrated their 50th anniversary May 28.

Their long-time relationship began when she asked him to a Sadie-Hawkins dance when she was a freshman and he was a sophomore in high school. After graduating in 1965, he joined the Army. After her graduation, May 20, 1966, he hitchhiked in for the weekend from communications school in New Jersery to be married. The wedding was held at Pennsboro EUB Church by Rev. Lois R. Luzader, surrounded by family and friends. He returned to complete his schooling and then got orders for Korea, beginning in October, where he served 13 months. The couple were reunited in December 1967.

He retired from Union Carbide.

She retired from teaching.

They have 3 sons, John (Amy), Matthew (Tanya) and Mark (Cindy.) They have six grandchildren, Mallory, Logan, Madeline, Abraham, Khloe and MacKenzie.

In celebration, the couple took a trip to Israel in the spring.
