90 Years: Angus

Seldon Woodrow Angus
Seldon Woodrow Angus of Sandyville will celebrate his 90th birthday on June 24, 2025. He was born on June 24, 1935, at the family home on Drift Run where he was raised, and is the son of the late Willie Grover Angus and Mabel Blanch Griffith. He is a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a graduate of the Gilmore High School Class of 1953 where he was class president his junior and senior years. He retired from Ravenswood Aluminum Corp. (formerly Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp.) on June 30, 1997, after 41 years of service.
His life has been devoted to service to his family, friends and community. He is always willing to give his time and energy to help anyone in need, whether it be furnishing a meal, mowing a yard, providing transportation to an appointment or lending a listening ear. He has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for about 64 years, having held numerous callings. He was a long-time board member of the Jackson County Commission on Aging and the Silverton Public Service District and was the caretaker of the Maddox Cemetery for 20 years. He is a familiar face at the Sandyville Senior Center where he has volunteered for nearly 20 years.
He married Elaine Riggs on Dec. 29, 1956, and they were married for 48 years. Elaine departed this earthly life on March 22, 2005. He still resides in the home they had built in 1959.
He is a cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather to 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He has been a wonderful example of generosity, hard work, integrity, and kindness. He enjoys working outdoors, sports, and spending time with his family.
