Carl and Muriel Sizemore

Carl and Muriel Sizemore of Mineral Wells will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Nov. 24, 2024.

They were married on November 24, 1954, in Charles Town, WV. She is the daughter of the late James O. and Agnes Whaling of Clay, WV. He is the son of the late James C. and Dell Sizemore of Burnsville, WV.

Carl is a 1951 graduate of Burnsville High School and Muriel graduated in 1953 from Clay County High School.

Carl served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 through 1954. He served with the First Marine Air Wing stationed at Pohang, Korea.

Carl attended West Virginia Tech and later graduated from Glenville State College (now University). Muriel also graduated from Glenville State College and received a Master’s Degree plus 30 hours from West Virginia University. She taught for 30 years including the last 23 years in the first grade at Mineral Wells Elementary School. Carl retired from GE and later worked for Apex Engineering.

They are proud parents of Carla (Bernie) Mauser of Sutton, WV; Carol (Butch) Dobson of Mineral Wells, WV; Carl II (Rowena) Sizemore of Mineral Wells, WV; and Jeff (Kim) Sizemore of Pawleys Island, SC. They have eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A family celebration is planned.
