William (Bill) and Brenda Coiner will celebrate their 50th anniversary January 1, 2021. They married January 1, 1971 in the Bride’s parents home, Homer and Dorothy Booth in St. Albans, WV. Bill’s parents, Bill and Flo Coiner were in attendance along with relatives from both sides of the family.
Bill and Brenda met in August 1970 while on a double date, they were not each other’s date that evening. They met again a few weeks later at a drive in restaurant. Brenda had a date scheduled the next night with another guy, but Bill drove Brenda to the guy’s house and told him his date had been canceled. This was the beginning of their last first date.
They have 3 children, Kelly ( Darren), Debbie (Ryan) and Mike (Anda). Bill and Brenda are proud grandparents to eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Bill retired from the Boilermaker Local 667. Bill is thankful and proud of his 50 plus years of working in power and nuclear plants (among other industries). He is a Certified Welding Inspector. Two of Bill’s greatest loves are his grandchildren and sports. So, his favorite pastime is watching his grandchildren participate in baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, dance team, lacrosse, softball, soccer, track etc. He loves them all.
Brenda received her LPN degree prior to marriage and was employed at Charleston General Hospital. Later, Brenda received her doctorate in Domestic Engineering achieved in successfully raising three children and grandchildren. She is all things to the family. There was not a school project, PTA meeting or homeowners association that she was not involved in. She has put together treasured scrapbooks showing off her family and her photography skills. Most of the family gatherings are centered around her dinner table.
Their children will honor Bill and Brenda’s 50th Anniversary with a small family gathering.
