Larry Russell Conant and Nancy Lee Moss Conant celebrated their 55th anniversary with a family celebration at Colombo’s Restaurant in Parkersburg. In addition, family photographs were taken earlier in the afternoon at Fort Boreman Park by Bentley Singleton.
The couple was married on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 1964, at Triumph Methodist Church in Spencer, with the Rev. Hershel Cottrell officiating.
He is the youngest son of the late Delbert and Beryl Conant of Leroy, W.Va. He is a 1964 Ripley High School graduate. He retired from DuPont, Washington Works, in June 2004 after serving 35 years as a production worker, mechanic, machinist and scheduler in DuPont’s Central Shops.
She is the daughter of the late Woodrow and Maude Moss of Leroy. She is a 1965 graduate of Spencer High School. She is a full-time homemaker, but also has served H&R Block as a tax professional for 27 years in the south Parkersburg office.
Both are active at the Tri-County Worship Center in Rockport, serving as Sunday school superintendents, VBS coordinators and in other capacities. They received their 40-year service pins from the West Virginia University 4-H Extension for club work in the Wood County 4-H Program.
Celebrating with them were their two children: daughter, Michele (Mike) Fling of Belleville and son Brent (Leslie) Conant of Leroy; their grandchildren: Morgan Fling of Morgantown, Mikala Fling of Morgantown, Tyler (Harleigh) Conant of Maiden, N.C., and Laura (Joel) Conant-Braden of Sandyville, W.Va.; their great-grandchildren: Tyler Douglas Conant Jr. and a new addition expected in March, Bentley Burner and Remington Nay of Sandyville and Duncan Cook-Conant of Leroy; their step-grandchildren: Thomas and Sabrina Evans and their step-great-grandchildren: Christian and Clarissa Camdige, Thomas and Mayson Evans and Bryson Gates of Spencer.
Also in attendance was their sister, Lydia Crislip of Reedy.
