PARKERSBURG -- The former site of Third Street Deli in downtown Parkersburg will soon be home to J's BBQ and Grill of Marietta.

The restaurant first opened its doors last August inside the Baymont by Wyndham in Marietta and owners plan to re-open at the new location at 430 Third St. on April 18.

"We're really excited about it. We're looking forward to being able to use the space. There's outdoor space that we don't have here," Josh Argabrite, co-owner, said.

The new location will come with new menu items, outdoor events and a focus on catering. Employees will also offer delivery in a 5-7 mile radius.

"We'd like to get it back to where it was when it was Third Street. They always had a very good lunch," Argabrite said. "We've increased the different burgers and sandwiches that we offer."

J's will offer a variety of soups and bread bowls at the new location, but Argabrite said they also want to appeal to a dinner crowd.

"We will try to add a decent dinner menu," he said.

For example, brisket will be a permanent item on the menu and Argabrite said it can be used for multiple entrees or appetizers.

Because Third Street Deli did a lot of catering business, Argabrite said that will be a goal in the coming months.

"Up here, we've been so busy with the restaurant that we haven't been able to focus on it as much as we would have liked to," he said.

Although the business is moving to Parkersburg, Argabrite said the owners are still committed to the Marietta community.

"We've gotten a big a following and a lot of support. We've gotten nothing but positive feedback from the people of Marietta, we always want to maintain a footprint in Marietta," he said. "We weren't able to find anything up here yet. As soon as we can find something for Marietta, we'll be back up here, it would be a second location."

In the meantime, Argabrite said they started looking for a food trailer to branch out further in Belpre and Marietta.

J's BBQ will continue in its Marietta location during normal business hours, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and closed on Sunday.
