ZZ Top tribute band Eliminator performs as part of Point Park Concert series

PARKERSBURG -- The Point Park Amphitheater was packed with people who came out to enjoy the Point Park Concert on the River Friday night. The featured band was Eliminator, a tribute band to ZZ Top.
"My husband is a musician, and we love ZZ Top," said Kelli McDougle of Parkersburg.
McDougle said this is her and her husband's second time attending a Concert on the River.
"My family and I come out to a few of these each year," said Troy Guinn of Parkersburg.
Guinn said he enjoys being able to gather and listen to music, which draws a crowd, but nothing too crazy.
"Parkersburg isn't really a huge draw for musicians, but these are really good cover bands," he said.
Local food trucks made their way to The Point Park for those attending to enjoy.
"This is our second Concert on the River this year," said Paula Leidy of Parkersburg.
Leidy said that she and her family have been attending the concerts for a few years and that they have not been disappointed with the event.
"We see so many people that we know here, but haven't seen in a while, and it makes the city seem a bit more like a close-knit community," she said.
Some people in the audience complained about the amount of reserved seating at the concert, which made finding a place to sit to watch the show difficult.
At least 20 boats on the water dropped anchor to listen to the music.
There will be two more Point Park Concerts on the River this summer, according to Wendy Shriver, executive director of Downtown PKB.
"There will be an Earth, Wind and Fire tribute on August 2nd and a Jimmy Buffett tribute on September 6th," Shriver said. The concerts start at 8 p.m.
Following that, Downtown PKB will host its next event, Downtown Throwdown BBQ and Brewfest on Sept. 14.
