PARKERSBURG -- The city of Parkersburg has moved ahead its 2017 paving schedule to this week, the city engineer said on Tuesday.
Rather than starting the milling and paving projects on Monday, the schedule will commence today in south Parkersburg, City Engineer Justin Smith said.
The contractor, Kelly Paving, is ready begin today, he said.
While it's better to start earlier than later, residents generally are given more than 24-hours notice if they have to move their vehicles, Smith said. Residents are being notified that the schedule has been moved up three days, he said.
"If we have to, we'll go door-to-door," Smith said.
Fortunately, few residents park their cars on the streets at the first street on the paving schedule, Smith said. Most people in the First Avenue and Edgelawn Street area have off-street parking, he said.
The schedule will be followed as originally planned, Smith said. The only change is it will start sooner than scheduled, he said.
