Letter to the Editor: Disarmament a mistake

In a letter titled "Gun violence in America is real," in the Sunday, Aug. 2, newspaper, the author stated, in essence, Democrats do not want to take away our guns.
Really? Yes, they do.
It's in the National Democratic Committee's platform for anyone who can read.
The author of said letter states Mexicans owned a paltry 12.9 guns per hundred people, while neglecting to mention mass shootings are more prevalent in Mexico than in the U.S. Despite their lower gun ownership, primarily due to their crime cartels. Mexican citizens are disarmed and are powerless to oppose the cartels.
The Mexican constitution allows gun ownership for its citizens but the Mexican courts have gradually eroded away their citizens gun rights, like the Democrats and our liberal courts are doing in America today. Had the Mexican people retained their gun rights, all along, crime cartels would unlikely be in control of Mexico today.
The reason even more gun control laws were not passed during the Obama and Biden administrations was because House and Senate Republicans blocked the passage of further useless gun control laws. Remember when the misnamed Clinton Assault Weapons Ban was enacted, Republicans rightfully predicted the ban was "The nose of the camel entering the tent." Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer gloated and boasted it was time to show Americans what the rest of the camel looked like. If not for Republicans, Schumer would have done so.
Today's socialist Democrats are totally crazy. They seek open borders, allowing violent criminal illegal immigrants to enter our country, at will, murdering U.S. citizens. They also seek ending all deportations, abolishing ICE, defunding police, emptying prisons, allowing violent criminals back on our streets, etc. Democrats do care about saving lives, criminal lives, at the cost of innocent citizens' lives.
Were the Democrats to again outlaw "assault weapons," they would eventually include lever action and pump action rifles and shotguns and all hand guns, depending on how broadly they defined "assault weapons." This is currently happening in Canada.
President Clinton's own DOJ begrudgingly admitted his assault weapons ban provided no measureable reduction in crime.
Remember the mass shooting on Australia's Bondi Beach months ago? Australia has some of the world's strictest gun laws. This rendered Australian citizens helpless unable to defend themselves.
Disarming law-abiding citizens doesn't work. Perhaps teaching our children from an early age in our schools about God and right and wrong would help.
