It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Zachary Scott Slaven, 24 of Ravenswood, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Born June 2, 2000, he was the son of Jeffery and Kathryn Slaven of Ravenswood. He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School, May 2019 and worked for the WVDOT in Parkersburg. Zachary was passionate about ATVs and motorcycles and loved riding with his friends through the backroads and hill country of Wood and Jackson Counties. Those who knew Zach were blessed with his huge smile, quiet nature, generous spirit, and kind heart.
He is survived by his parents, one sister, Ashley Slaven, Vienna; one brother, Corey Slaven, Ravenswood; Paternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Griffith, Lubeck; Uncles, Richard (Kim) Brown Jr., Grayson, GA; Ronnie (Maria) Brown, Shepherdstown; Aunts, Elizabeth (Ronnie) Sigler, Charles Town; Amanda (Todd) Lutman, Charles Town; Margaret (Patrick) Henderson, Shepherdstown; Stephanie Slaven, Lubeck; Kim (Kenny) Henry, Ravenswood; Great Aunts, Rose Altieri, Purcellville, VA; Nancy Cleaver, Shepherdstown; Flo Brown Best, Shenandoah Junction, 28 cousins and a very large extended family. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Richard and Barbara Brown, Sr., paternal grandfather, Doral Slaven, Jr., and paternal great- grandparents Doral and Murhl Slaven, Sr.
At Zachary's request, he will be cremated and there will be no service. In honor of Zachary, his friends and family are organizing an ATV poker run to celebrate his life later this Spring/Summer.
