Prosecutor clears 2 Cincinnati officers in July 4 shooting

CINCINNATI (AP) — A county prosecutor says no charges will be filed against two Cincinnati police officers after one of them shot and wounded a knife wielding man who’d called 911 to report on someone “acting wild and going crazy” at a city park.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters on Saturday said a review of body camera footage shows Cincinnati officers Albert Brown and Kevin Brown responded appropriately Thursday when the man refused to heed commands to drop a butcher’s knife while approaching them.
Deters says Albert Brown shot 23-year-old Devin Johnson three times.
Johnson was in critical but stable condition at a Cincinnati hospital Saturday. He’s been charged with two counts of felonious assault and one count of aggravated menacing.
Court records don’t indicate whether Johnson has an attorney.
