Marietta College’s Agliolo repeats as OAC Defensive POTW
WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College junior goalie Francesca Agliolo was named, for second straight week, as the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office.
In the Pioneers’ lone matchup of the week, Agliolo made eight saves in Marietta’s 0-0 draw with Ohio Northern. Agliolo extended her shutout streak to 238 minutes and made two incredible stops on point blank shots inside the 6-yard box.
For the season, Agliolo is currently tops in the OAC with .848 Goals Against average and a .824 saves percentage.
Pioneer volleyball sweeps weekly conference awards
Two Pioneers were selected as Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week Monday by the conference office. Junior AnnaBelle Hacker was named Offensive Player of the Week, while senior Keira Shannon grabbed the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.
Hacker earned her very first Player of the Week honor after helping the Pioneers to a 3-0 defeat of Ohio Northern on Friday. Hacker powered in 10 kills for the Pioneers and also supplied two blocks in the contest.
The junior is currently fifth in the OAC with a .295 attack percentage, averaging 1.96 kills per set. Hacker is also ninth in the conference with 33 blocks.
Shannon came up big for the Pioneers on Friday. She led a stellar defensive effort, collecting 19 digs in the matchup. She also helped on the offensive side as she blasted three service aces.
For the season, Shannon leads the team with 4.33 digs per set, good for seventh in the OAC. She is fourth in the conference with 18 service aces.
