Post 15 claims Don Coss tourney championship

CAMBRIDGE — Parkersburg Post 15 plated a run in the bottom of the third to break a 2-2 tie en route to claiming a 5-2 victory over Cambridge Post 84 in the Don Coss Tournament championship Sunday.
Cooper Cancade went the distance for Post 15, allowing four hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out eight in the victory.
Caden Parker went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run-batted-in while Carter McLain was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Colin McCarter singled and drove in two and Cooper Cancade walked three times and registered an RBI.
To get to the championship round, Post 15 had to take care of business against Marietta Post 64 in the semifinals. After Post 64 went up 1-0 in the top of the first, Parkersburg responded with three runs in the bottom half of the first to go up 3-1.
However, Marietta tied it up at 3-all with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Post 15 was able to get a run across against Marietta reliever Tate Jonas to earn a walkoff victory.
Peyton West pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the mound victory. He allowed two hits, no runs and two free passes with one punchout.
Starter Brady Swain went 4 2/3 innings with six walks, six strikeouts, three hits and three runs.
Gavin Fling started for Marietta, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks over six innings. He fanned three batters.
Cancade went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for Parkersburg. McLain and Dylan Holliday had two hits apiece.
Cooper Laumann doubled, singled and drove in a run for Marietta.
