Parkersburg High School crew team sending 3 rowers onto nationals

MILFORD, Mich. — The Parkersburg High School crew team traveled to Milford, Mich., this past weekend for the 2-day Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championship Regatta. The regatta is a qualifier for the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championship Regatta being held May 23-24 in Pennsauken Township, N.J.

The team competed against 48 other teams representing eight states.

Nanna Kehr, representing PHS in the Women’s Varsity 1x, placed first out of 17 shells at the Midwest competition to advance to nationals. She’ll be joined by the Big Reds’ Women’s Varsity 2x of the Catherine Hayes and Clara Vanfossen, which placed fourth at the Midwest to earn a spot at nationals.

Advancing to last Saturday’s finals, but coming short of qualifying for nationals, were the Men’s Novice 8+ (Tristan Robert (Coxswain), Zion Cain, Owen Skinner, Wade Hines, Jasper Beha, Carter Morehead, Caden Burnside, Luca Ticozzi and Levi Towner), which placed fourth out of 26 entries; the Women’s JV 8+ (Brooklyn Modesitt (Coxswain), Stella Davis, Hattie Brown, Willow Richmond, Kayley Kalika, Jaqueline Poland, Ella, Lexi Archer and Alivia Morehead), which placed eighth out of 16 entries; the Women’s JV 4x (Addison Somich, Lexi Archer, Hayden Carey and Alivia Morehead), which placed seventh out of 17 entries; the Women’s Varsity 4x (Catherine Hayes, Clara Vanfossen, Megan Midcap and Nanna Kehr) which placed fourth out of 14 entries; the Men’s Novice 4+ (Tristan Roberts (Coxswain), Carter Morehead, Caden Burnside, Luca Ticozzi and Levi Towner) which placed fifth out of 27 entries; the Men’s JV 4+ (Megan Midcap (Coxswain), Zion Cain, Jonah Beha, Wade Hines and Jasper Beha), which placed eighth out of 26 entries; the Men’s Varsity 4x (Ryder Delong, Shane Tessum, Lyric Dearth and Xander Reins) which placed fourth; and the Women’s Varsity 2- (Addison Somich and Hayden Carey) which placed eighth.
