WILLIAMSTOWN – Wahama’s best effort during Monday’s senior night against top-ranked Class AA Williamstown resulted in an 82-59 Little Kanawha Conference setback as the Yellowjackets of head coach Scott Sauro watched all five starters score in double figures.
Parker Schramm (21 points), Jayden Bryant (16), Cruz Isaly (12), Carson Hill (11) and Lynken Joy (10), who were all honored prior to the tip, were joined in double digits by Tyler Keiser (10).
“They got some good guys,” admitted coach Sauro, whose team forfeited the opening tip after being assessed a technical foul in warmups for a dunk. “We’re really super proud of these kids.
“They’ve all meant a lot to our program and we’re happy they got to have a win on senior night. As an added bonus it’s kind of cool that they all scored in double figures.”
Eli Rickard, who led the eighth-ranked single-A White Falcons with 21 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals, made 1 of 2 from the foul line and scored 10 seconds into the game to give the visitors a quick 3-0 lead.

Aden Young, who came off the bench and finished with 13 points, knocked down a 3 thanks to a Cyrus Rickard assist, which tied the game at 13 with 3:22 to go in the quarter.
However, the 14-3 Yellowjackets ended the period on a 16-2 run and never looked back.
Bryant’s 17-foot jumper got it started. Joy followed with a tip-out rebound to Schramm, who found Hill open for a trifecta.
Following a lay-in by Joy, which made it 20-13, Eli Rickard converted to cut it to five, but Schramm hit from deep, added two free throws and then Isaly had a pair of steals that led to the 14-point advantage. Isaly had a lay-in from a Wyatt Powell dime and then Isaly had one of his game-high eight assists to Hill as the hosts drained 11 of 15 from the field.
“Honestly, that is really something I think we’ve been doing a much, much better job of over the last three weeks is moving the ball and making the extra pass,” added coach Sauro. “All of our guys are doing it and it’s kind of contagious when that happens.

“Through this run where we’ve played pretty well we’ve passed up good shots to get great ones. I think that’s what good teams do. We have to continue to do that because we’ve got some really good teams coming up on our schedule that we have to make sure we’re really sharing the ball and getting the ball moving.”
The 11-6 White Falcons of head man Billy Zuspan, who are scheduled to play Huntington St. Joe at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at W.Va. State in the Snyder of Berlin/UTZ Snacks Shootout with the ‘Jackets squaring off against Wyoming East at 1 p.m., trailed 47-27 at halftime thanks to a deuce by Charlie Long with two seconds remaining.
Williamstown, which shot 60.8% (31 of 51) compared to 50% (24 of 48) for the White Falcons, held a commanding 31-18 edge on the glass and carried a 65-44 cushion into the final eight minutes.
Joy and Bryant, who also had five assists, finished with eight boards apiece. Isaly, who had a three-quarter court assist to Keiser to make it 34-17 at 7:13 of the second, also finished with a game-high four steals. The highlight came when he deflected a pass into the backcourt that eventually made its way all the way to the baseline and he managed to grab the ball and throw it off a White Falcon before going out of bounds to give the hosts possession.
Long, Hayden Lloyd and Nash Johnson finished with six points apiece in the setback.

“We have a tough one there,” coach Sauro admitted of Wednesday’s hopeful showdown with the Warriors before welcoming in Logan on Friday. “We’re excited about the opportunity to play them because we know how good they are. Logan’s another top four team and they were our last loss. They are an awesome team and very well coached.”
