PARKERSBURG — A look back at Thursday’s regional cross country action.

Class AAA, Region IV at Ripley


Franklin Angelos bested the field for Parkersburg High in his final regional run.

However, it was Parkersburg South which finished third place as a team to advance to the state meet next Saturday in Ona.

Angelos will be joined at state by Ripley’s Chase Pepper, who finished 10th.

The Patriots were led by Aiden Blake in seventh and Brady Cochran in eighth. The Patriots also had scoring runs from Anthony Ott, Caleb Akers and Lucas Jenkins.


Ellie Hosaflook led Ripley with a third-place effort and the entire Viking team also advanced to the state meet after finishing third overall.

Ripley’s other scorers were Haleigh McCune, Opal Huffman, Tori Fisher and Emma Shockey.

The only other girl to advance was Parkersburg freshman Ellie Hines, who placed ninth.

CLASS AA, Region II at Elkins


Elkins dominated the team race and a pair of Roane County seniors just missed out on the final weekend of the campaign. Needing a top 10 finish to advance, Raiders Alex Hall (13th) and Sam Richards (15) were followed by freshman Isaac Snodgrass (16th).


Braxton County, led by freshman Laura Cain’s fourth-place effort, won the regional by a 39-44 margin versus Liberty (Harrison).

Eagle Bethany Payne and Nicole Bramble also finished inside the top 10 at sixth and eighth, respectively. Heidi Payne was 12th and Lindsay Tetrick 17th for the Eagles.

CLASS A, Region I at Ritchie


Wheeling Central’s Aidan Scott won the regional, but Ritchie County and Magnolia advanced as full teams after the Rebels bested the Blue Eagles, 28-58.

Tyler Consolidated’s Jaden Ebert, a freshman, and senior Haygen Baker finished two-three behind Scott.

RItchie County finished 4-5-6 thanks to Jeremiah Dalton, Heath Knight and Tatem Elliott. Also scoring for the Rebels were Cayden Moore (9th) and Thomas Miracle.

Magnolia’s top effort came from freshman Landen Davis taking ninth. Blue Eagle junior Lucas Zombotti was 10th and was followed by teammates Brady Renner, Shiv Patel and Austin Beverlin.


St. Marys sophomore Virginia Haddox crossed in first and helped the Blue Devils to the team title, a 20-46 triumph versus Ritchie County, which got a runner-up effort from Chesnee Williams. She was joined in the team top five by Andrea Davis, Chaslyn Jones, Zoe Butcher and Lillie Law.

Paden City freshman Lexi Mathis (5th) and Tyler Consolidated junior Emily Ebert (7th) also advanced. Joining Haddox in scoring were Natalie Bartrug (3rd), Erica Davis (4th), Josey Moore (6th) and Jaela Davis (9th). Blue Devil Addie Davis placed 10th.

CLASS A, Region II at Doddridge


Doddridge County senior Trent Gola will head into the final meet of his career as a regional champ after winning by more than 50 seconds.

The Bulldogs and Trinity each advanced team-wise with respective scores of 48. Trinity won the regional thanks to its sixth-place runner. South Harrison’s Carter Bowie was third.

Gola was joined in scoring by Caleb Lloyd (5th), Josh Berke (8th), Kaden Smith and Caleb Wekseth.


Doddridge County had five runners finish in the top 11, led by champ Lexi Lamb, as the Bulldogs rolled to the team crown with a 26-52 victory versus Tucker County.

DCHS also had scoring efforts from Bailey Holden (3rd), Emily Gola (4th), Cassie Cumberledge (7th) and Hailey Keith (11th).
