NEW MATAMORAS — Host Frontier and head coach Roger Kirkpatrick were looking for a big upset Tuesday night when Division III No. 8 Fort Frye rolled into the Hank Morus Gymnasium.

The Cougars kept the Cadets scoreless for the first 4:25 of the game, but Nic Hart’s 3 finally got head man Eric Henniger’s club going as the visitors rolled to a season sweep with an 85-46 triumph.

Hart, who had nine of his 22 counters in the first stanza, was one-upped by teammate Kelton Fogle. Fogle knocked down six trifectas and pumped in a career-high 34 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Fogle, who had a four-point play in the second, scored a baker’s dozen at halftime, but added 11 more in the third and 10 in the fourth, which featured a three-point play.

With 4:09 left in the first of a scoreless affair the Cadets were 0 for 5 from the field and had two turnovers while Frontier had four tunovers and attempted just one shot.

Following the Hart triple via a Garrett Lipot assist, Braden Medley got a steal and that led to Fogle’s first three-point play and a 6-0 cushion. It was 10-0 before Lucas Cox recorded a steal and assisted on Walter Hendershot’s deuce to make it 10-2.

A bucket by Fogle was followed by a Hart hoop after Medley made a steal and assisted on the play.

The Cadets, who improved to 14-2 and are currently scheduled to return to action on Friday, Feb. 12 at River, led 16-2 after one when Hart had a no-look assist that allowed Luke Huffman to score two of his 10 points.

Fort Frye pushed ahead 25-2 with 5:35 left in the first half following Fogle’s four-point play.

A free throw by Caleb Reynolds stopped the run, but Hart scored inside to make it 27-3.

Frontier, now 3-11 with a game Thursday at Monroe Central, proceeded to score seven straight. Breckin Hoff, who led the hosts with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds, assisted on a Hendershot make. Hoff then drained a 3 and Reynolds made two charity stripe tosses to cut it to 17.

However, the Cadets finished the stanza on a 12-4 run to build a 39-14 halftime advantage. Medley had both of his baskets and Owen Brown recorded his lone field goal in the spurt. Tanner Bills drained a 3 with a second left for part of his 11 counters in the setback.

Frontier managed to score 21 points in the third, but allowed 22 to the Cadets, which included a trifecta from Fogle via a Hart (game-high six dimes) with 20 ticks left. Brenden Buck’s lay-in capped the scoring in the third, but the hosts still trailed 61-35.

Fort Frye, which shot 47.9% (34 of 71) from the field and 11 of 32 from deep, got the game’s final two points via an Ethyn Zimmer putback. The Cadets held a 38-29 advantage on the glass and that included 17 offensive caroms. Fogle was joined in grabbing seven rebounds by Bills and Hendershot as well as teammates Hart, Brown and Medley.

Cox finished with nine points, four assists, a block and also tied Hart for game-high steal honors with five.

Frontier lost the turnover battle, 28-12, and was held to 37.5% shooting (15 of 40).
