Saturday’s Spring Sports Stars

BASEBALL

ß Blake Bennett was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Ethan Mahan tripled and drove in a run while Jake Greene and Ciah Kennedy knocked in two runs each in Ravenswood’s 13-2 five-inning victory over Waterford.

ß Winning pitcher Chase Swain (5 IP, 7 SO) had five RBIs and helped himself with a grand slam in the second inning as Ravenswood rolled past visiting Wahama, 15-2. Mahan had three hits for the Red Devils, who also got two hits and two RBIs apiece from Bennett and Stephen Dawson. Lakin Tucker added a 2 for 3 effort with one RBI.

ß Connor Frye doubled, singled and drove in three runs while Devin Williams doubled, drove in two runs and pitched 5 1-3 innings with six strikeouts in Ritchie County’s 8-6 win over Williamstown. Bradan Mullenix doubled twice and drove in two runs for Williamstown.

ß Brent West fanned 10 batters over seven innings while Aaron Ott was 3 for 3 with three runs scored in Frontier’s 10-3 win over Magnolia. Reed McKinney tripled, Noah Barnhart and Briar West doubled, Nick Antill went 2 for 4 and Logan Brookover scored three runs for the Cougars.

ß Evan Gandee was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Troy Huck was 2 for 3 and Brett Gandee, Kurt Taylor and Noah Edgell all doubled in Warren’s 12-2 win versus West Muskingum. Edgell also pitched five innings to earn the win.

ß Ian Smith went 3 for 4 with and pitched 6 1-3 innings with seven strikeouts as host Wirt County nipped Parkersburg Catholic, 7-6. Nathan Murray got a two-out save while Tiger Hunter Hickman finished 3 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Jeb Boice led PCHS with two hits, a double and two RBIs.
