There are many people I respect on here, so it seems very odd to me when they go so off base with critiques on their own writings.
How can you think Obama didn't lie? When he first said it, any thinking person should have known he lied. I sure did. If you accept President Obama's statement, you'd have to believe that insurance companies would eat all the extra costs like older kids on plans, preexisting conditions, etc.
Only a fool would have believed that, and only a liar would have said it.
BTW: Politifact just made President Obama's statement "lie of the year."
@R1KRA8- sorry, that still does prove anything.
Is there anything that proves that he intentionally lied? Did anyone catch him on camera sayingg he knew what he said was false? Is there any recordings of him saying such a thing? Any manuscripts that shows he knew he was lying?
If not...then there is no proof he was intentionally lying.
You seem much more interested in Clinton's s e x life than I, what is the official word?
"Who suspended it and why"
He only had a license on Arkansas..so there. Why? For the Lewinsky stuff.
And now he can practice law again, so how bad was it all in their eyes if they would allow him back?
Curious, should the whole Lewinsky mess have gone as far as it did? If yes, then should they have done the same to Bush and the WMD situation?
"If you are going to try and say that Obama did not lie, I think you must be delusional"
What you think doesn't matter anymore than what those who thought Zimmerman was guilty. It matters what you can prove.
"Bill Clinton's law licenses was stripped for what reason?"
Stripped so badly that he can practice law anytime he wants to now.
"I am guessing Pipefitter. Just a wild guess."
You are full of wild guesses today.
"If you like your plan you can keep it PERIOD, is that a true statement?"
It would seem not to be. Can you prove that he intentionally lied? Yes or No.
"Why was his law license revoked???"
It's more accurate to say suspended. He can reestablish his license anytime he wants in the state of Arkansas.
"No its his fault he lied, its the electorate that does not call for his impeachment that condones it."
The public cannot call for his impeachment because they THINK he lied. So far, no one has proven that he did lied. Would you really want to waste millions of dollars on something that won't accomplish anything? It would be as stupid as trying to bring Bush to impeachment hearings bck when he was Prez for the WMD stuff.
"there are tons of folks out there."
Thre are tons of those folks but they do not represent the public. Just because there are some talking heads on tv supporting Clinton, though I know there was no one that said what he did was morally right, that isn't representive of the general population.
Was Clinton wrong in cheating on his wife? I feel yes. Was he lawfully guilty? No.
Should he have told the truth to Congress right off the bat? Yes. Should it ever came before Congress? No.
"Government reflects the electorate and visa versa. You cannot separate the two."
So it's not Obama's fault he lied...it's the electorate's fault?
"You don't think there is corruption in the Government?"
What one thinks and what one can prove is not the same thing. Just ask the jury in the Zimmerman trial.
"I say lots of folks because I saw them on TV"
Now we got three groups; the general public, the lots of folks on tv and the people in govt.
Which one are you focused on when talking about moral decay?
"There were LOTS of folks on tv defending Clinton"
What are these "lots of folks" defending? Are they saying he was in the right to cheat on his wife? I would love to see that video clip.
"So you are making the case that it IS indeed the everyday persons fault?"
If their is corrpution within the govt, which you haven't proven yet, and they let it go on...then yes...it is the public's fault.
However, let's clear up soemthing. When you are complaining about moral decay, are you talking about moral decay within govt or the general population? They are not the same thing.
"AGAIN I ASK< HAVE YOU BECOME THE SPOKESMAN FOR PEOPLE?" As much as you have for, "Lots of folks".
"YEA SO NOT LIKE THE US THESE DAYS"
How do they take it? They don't take anything that the voting public doesn't give them.
"SO WELL CALL EM DRONES AND TANKS INSTEAD OF SWORDS"
You really have no idea how we influence the world. I remember when we first went into Afghanistan, a reporter stopped by a village and what does one see? You see kids in clothing with America cartoon characters on them. They use our money. Their teens have posters of our pop stars. The people speak english better then we in the US speak any other foriegn tongue.
Our influence across the globe is more than our military strength.
"It is the ruling class that is destroying this country as well"
We choose the ruling class. Rome did not do that at all. If their is corruption in our govt, it is the fault of the people. When there was corruption in Rome, the people had no say.
When people complain of moral decay, they are referring to the everyday person. That is not what happened to Rome. Moral decay for them was more or less within the ruling class.
The Roman Empire was not able to change with the times. The corrput and powerful took power, whether they deserved it or not. That's how they ended up with such things like the year of three emporers or Claudius being named emporer by corrupt military people.
Tell me, did the vast slave class of people in the empire suffer from moral decay?
Rome is not a relevant analog to the United States. Rome was an empire that incorporated numerous nations under it's banner and forced them to follow their way. Rome in the 4th and 5th centuries was much older then the US is now. Rome didn't influence worldwide culture by example but by the end of the sword. Rome's "moral decay" can be chucked up to the failure of the ruling class.
