Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

@Tiredofit- What is your point? Having the most people agree or watch you means you are correct?

Under that kind of thinking, Obama must be correct because the majority of voters put him in office. Are you sure you want to go down that way of thinking?

"They live family centered lives and love their God and America."

Guess normal people are Muslims, Mormons, Jews and so many other groups of various faiths.

Honestly, you described probably what most American citizens look at themselves as, though I doubt you would include them in your definition of normalcy.

Are Muslim Americans normal? Are Gay/Lesbian Americans normal?

They follow the laws of the land and they work hard. I see absolutely nothing that wouldn't make them, and many others, "normal".

Normal American people are thankful for what they have. They live family centered lives and love their God and America. They help those less fortunate than they are. They try to live by Biblical standards, but all of us fall short. They take reponslbility for their own actions and welfare. They live a life of honor and are good role models for their children.

So take it or leave it. My husband is very normal in my opinion, and I am truly lucky. His "normalcy" is reflected in our now grown up children.

Just because the "normal people" (whoever they are) doesn't get it doesn't mean the liberals are incorect.

Always remember, majority might rule but it doesn't mean they are right.

Though it is funny because technically their are no longer any majorities in the nation. At least not from a racial pov. European-Americans make up less than 50% of the population now. It's a Brave New World indeed.

Nice try. Poor little liberals talking points turn off normal people. MSNBC and the other liberal sites repel family oriented people. They can't seem to learn that people don'r want to hear filthy trash or global warming lies. And those are their thing. No love for country, church, or their fellow man unless it is minorities to make themselves seem important.

Minorities are mportant just like everyone else. No more, and no less.

And what does the fact that liberal oriented shows not appealing to the masses have to dow ith ther veracity of their arguments?

I suggest one should read "The War Prayer" by Mark Twain and do a little study on certain oppositions getting drowned out by popular movements (such as the Nazi and Russian Communist Party) throughout history. Were those oppositions wrong just because they didn't garner a larger audience?

"Ever notice that liberals only believe their own set of lies instead of"...the conservatives unique set of lies?

One problem that both sides tend to have are those that use appeals to authority as arguments. Who cares if 1 million scientists sign a petition saying that global warming is or is not happening? If those people do not understand the subject matter it makes their opinion no more important than anyone else's opinion.

Those on here that say global warming and climate change is happening are however doing something that the opposition isn't doing much of an that is offering citable information.

The hot earth and air posters here make me understand why the liberal talk radio shows are almost kaput for 2014. Mostly all that is left is NPR, and it is only still around because we are forced to pay for it.

Blathering repetition of the same old liberal hate and socialist viewpoint gets tiresome fast. Ever notice that liberals only believe their own set of lies instead of facts? Before you ask, the info about liberal shows being cancelled was on Drudge today.

"Scientific American took a random sample of 30 of the 1,400 signatories claiming to hold a Ph.D. in a climate-related science. Of the 26 we were able to identify in various databases, 11 said they still agreed with the petition—one was an active climate researcher, two others had relevant expertise, and eight signed based on an informal evaluation. Six said they would not sign the petition today, three did not remember any such petition, one had died, and five did not answer repeated messages. Crudely extrapolating, the petition supporters include a core of about 200 climate researchers‐a respectable number, though rather a small fraction of the climatological community."

And again...you did not read the page in question so you have no idea if the page in question is even correct or wrong.

What are you disagreeing with? That it talks about the Oregon Petition? Maybe you don't like that it points out that the scientists involved don't know a thing about climate change?

You can clear this up at your leasure, if you would just do it.

Wow..after all I wrote, you lamely grasp ahold the straw about wikipedia being put together by contributors, without addressing the historical fact about the Oregon Petition. But since you need spoonfed, here we go.

Basically put, the Oregan Petition was made by those against the Kyoto Protocal. Numerous scientists signed it that had NO idea or concept about climate change or global warming. This evolved to the petition site you post as evidence.

I merely offered the wiki site up for review, which you did not. I at least looked over your petition site and found it sorrowfully lacking and explained why. You however failed to even imply that you read the page in question and why you did not like it.

Lastly, I would cite this for review: h t t p://en.wikipedia.o rg/wiki/Oregon_Petition

Kendall78

Looking at the petition website I have to note a few things.

There is no way to confirm that those who sign the petition are who they say they are. I could ask for a petition, sign "The Rev. Sir Doctor Stephen Tyrone Mos Def Colbert, D.F.A." and they probably wouldn't even check to make sure it's legit.

The appeals to authority are terrible. Numerous times the site brags about their 9K+ PHDs as if that is evidence.

Unless I missed it, the founders of this petition never disclose who they are. That's a red flag.

Bill Nye provides evidence and explanation to his theories. Those that sign a petition do not. They give an opinion without any evidence to back it up. They do not provide anything to support the following claims they make:

1. The proposed limits on greenhouse gasses would harm the environment...

2. ...there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in the atmosphere carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects...

Just because those scientists signed it does not show they understand the science behind it.

“Have you read the petition of over 31,000.american scientists?”

No, but I would be glad to look at it and comment. However, I’m not going to read 31,000 separate scientific papers. I feel that’s asking too much.

Would you be glad to look at what Bill Nye said and comment?

Also, where did I predict doom? I’ve said I agree with the chairman of Exxon-Mobile; it’s an engineering problem that is well within our capacity to solve.

"I have provided a link more than once of 31,487 American scientists that signed a petition rejecting man made global warming."

That would an Appeal to Authority Fallacy. You have proven nothing.

I checked out what CNS said, and I explained why I feel they distorted the issue. Won't you accord Bill Nye the same consideration?

Why are you so afraid?

Posted 778 days ago.

harryanderson

Tiredofit,

Did you even check out what Bill Nye said?

Posted 778 days ago.

harryanderson

As to the question of why we need redemption, I like Tiredofit’s answer.

Posted 778 days ago.

harryanderson

That takes care of CNS. With respect to Bill Nye, Mythravere, of course, asked the relevant question: “Why are the things Bill Nye said false?”

Tiredofit, as usual, refused to address the relevant question.
