Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

Oh and not I don't disagree with it. If its correct..who knows where you got that info.

Tiredofit do/can you understand this.

The polar regions are still cold..sorry brrrrrrrr.

Seasonal weather patterns can and do bring the cold down to us. Which is what is happening monday.

I mean do you really think that our local just gets cold?

Where do you think that cold is coming from.

Subtle temperature changes can have very large and detrimental effects on the biospheres of this planet.

Subtlety and the noting of it isn't something you rightwingers seem to be good with.

Its either black or white or on or off with you guys.

Where's the inbetween? Wait there is none.

I know your really want this to be an embarrassment for those who believe that man is causing climate change but it really really really isn't.

If you look at the ship in those pictures..obviously and icebreaker with a hull hardened against the ice...you will see that it was captured by pack ice. You know a whole bunch of ice chunks that come together and can surround and sink vessels in some cases.

Shackleton's expedition for example.

Being that the Antarctic hasn't seen changes in temperature like the northern polar regions this can still happen there. Its can still happen in the Arctic too.

Your comments smack of ignorance on the subject.

Sorry but its true.

Tiredofit I am not taking personally at all. But when I see you making asinine comments on a topic like this and are missing obvious details and facts....I really like pointing that out...totally for the sake of argument.

“These scientists that tell us all about artic ice diminishing…”

The boat isn’t in Arctic ice, as the above quote suggests; it’s in Antarctic ice.

There are large differences between the climates, geography, and ice caps of the Arctic and Antarctic. For example, Antarctica is much colder. And much of the ice in Antarctica is land-based, whereas all Arctic ice floats in the sea.

Yes, actually, it is a lot thicker than Al Gore said it would be by now. This stuck boat is another huge embarrassment for the warmers.

Here's the thing. Its only ironic to you. And the folks like you.

You know the ones who dont know what they are talking about.

Even a prepared expedition can find itself in a situation that wasn't planned for or anticipated.

By the way. Even with the planet warming up. The south polar regions are still seriously cold.

So cold that planes can't fly into the research stations if its too cold because the metal in them may break.

Glad they have a way to rescue the crew and passengers.

Well, they failed and will have to be airlifted off the ship or ice. This article has nice pictures. Nice comments, too.

Also Australia exports more coal than any other nation, which should mean that they use much less than the other nations.

Totally random but while looking up this info I thought this little fact was odd:

The US is #4 in exporting coal but #13 in importing it. Our economics involving fossil fuels are weird.

Anyway, for those that say politics play heavily on the subject of climate change..I still hold that Australia would be a good source for info if they don't trust the US findings.

harryanderson

That's right.

Posted 968 days ago.

Kendall78

Well...you are correct in that, though maybe 5th would more accurate in we count the EU in the standings.

Though with 53% of coal production being done by China and the US, two of the most cited for issues with global warming, Australia is still rather small.

harryanderson

Kendall,

Australia is the world's 4th largest producer of coal, with nearly 6% of the total.

Those that do not believe (let's face it...it's a faith to them because they have no facts) that climate change and global warming is happening, seem to think that politics are skewing the truth. I might buy that line of thinking a little from nations that would benefit from such things. But what about a nation like Australia?

Aust. does not have vast coal fields or a huge industry like the US, so would it make sense to trust their findings?

Can you read, myth? You have no proof,as usual, for your rants.

The story is in many national publications. Why on earth would I feel any need to justify it to you?

mythravere

" To me, a stupid ha ha is so silly and childish and means nothing." Ithink..again.

Whats more childish? That or not demonstrating the ability to concisely defend your positions with reason and facts...and also not pointing out how you know other people are wrong when you say they are?

mythravere

" I have not put forth an opinion on this except that it is interesting. " Ithink

Ummm yea why I am I not believing that.

Yep that statement smacks of someone trying to weasel out of having to explain their "reasoning" for citing the story.

So you are not saying that the ship getting stuck in ice is evidence to the contrary of global warming? Ok..if that's what you want to imply.

If you had read more info than just article titles, you will see that the running theory why they partially got stuck was due to a massive iceberg that broke free a few years ago. Oddly enough when you put a bunch of crushed ice together and keep them that way for a long period of time, they will refreeze. Amazing eh?

Posted 968 days ago.

Kendall, you are off in lala land again. I have not put forth an opinion on this except that it is interesting. Seems to make you and WV harry very uncomfortable.

Climate scientists who thought it would be warmer in Antarctica this summer.A common mistake they make about the earth all the time.

This is hilarious. Sorry you warmers are so embarrassed.

"ITHINK, Harry the WV Republican Scientist says your are uninformed."

That statement is not true.
