Republican Obstructionism

There is less than a month until our nation's fiscal cliff is reached. While some would have us believe that reaching the fiscal cliff will be the end of the world, in reality, it will barely put a band-aid on our severed limb of debt and spending problems. The problems were not a result of a single presidency. The debt and current spending deficits are the result of decades of spending more money than is taken in by our federal government. It has been exacerbated by two recent wars and the worst economic recession in 70 years.

Why doesn't the high and mighty conservatives do a good job of convincing people their way is the better way?

If its the truth then it shouldn't be hard in getting that message out.

The problem is the right isn't interesting in getting that message out.

The only reason they are acting like they are is because their voters are threatening their jobs with the big bad government.

Highly lucrative being a congressman.

Do nothing and get paid for it. Get drunk at work and get paid for it.

Put 800,000 people out of work and get paid for it.

Whats the solution to stopping market distortion by government? Having no government?

Oh gee that will work out until we see the rise of monopolies like there was in the past before the trusts were busted up.

Whats the money from that tax do. You know it is used to provide for the upkeep of infrastructure. At least somewhat.

But thats bad isn't it.

Please tell me you wouldn't support all roads being toll roads since they are run by private companies who are looking to turn a profit.

Oh yea that acre of land was owned by my parents and so was the trailer.

I know that. But what can be done about it. We both know the politicians wont do anything about.

Its a beast thats whole purpose in life is to propagate itself.

What does that tax do?

I dont live in a trailer court. I did live in trailer when I was still living with my parents years ago but it was on an acre of land in the country.

I am talking about the financial industry being allowed into such things as the speculative markets when in the past they weren't.

Like oil futures.

In 2008 during the big spike in oil prices it was said that as much as 60 dollars in the cost of a barrel of oil was due to speculation.

Wall St knew how much their actions was hurting the nation did they care?

NO!

If this isn't the way forward then why hasn't the right made a good case for it?

I know why! No one listens to a55holes!

You bring up good points. But on the national stage the message isn't conveyed one bit in any manner that will convince people they are right.

Wall Street became more free to do what they want and look what they did!

LOL! Are you really that dense.

Free market solutions wont work by themselves.

Incase it escapes you. Corporations have to be held at bay or they take and do what they want.

The thing about a single payer system is that I on paper it looks good. I dont know for a fact if it would be a good thing or if it would work.

Like I said I like the "idea" of it.

Sad thing is I can't wonder if something will work and still have doubts about it but would like to see a system such as that at least proposed as a solution.

Nope the moment I say that to you folks I might as well be saying I want it and my thoughts are set in concrete.

Am I right or am I wrong?

And what coverage will I have?

I dont get earned income tax credit. I haven't went to the doctor in years. Haven't needed to.

The money I get back from at the end of the year is far far less than what I paid in.

I cant use anything to offset the cost of healthcare to me.

I would like to see a single payer system. I dont like the idea of their being a middleman between the doctor and me.

More than likely I will be paying the first years fine.

Also right alongside this issue is being forced to buy something I dont want.

I dont agree with that.

They all screwed up. Simple as that. Obama won't budge or even appear to be open to other ideas. The Dems won't compromise in any way. The Republicans know they can't stop Obamacare and won't just give in.

They are all hurting the nation. Best thing to happen is that the Republicans make a big spiel about doing what must be done to help the nation and signing off on the budget. While of course making it clear they (like the majority of Americans) do not agree with Obamacare.

As far as the reason for the shutdown. The GOP knew full well they wouldn't get what they wanted. And yet they persisted.

Like I said before. The GOP if in power wouldn't give an inch to the left.

This shutdown belongs to the TPGOP.

They own it and I hope they pay for it.

Right now I know people who have rent to pay and car payments to make that work for the government.

The GOP doesn't give wto chits about those people.

Come next year. Oh boy do I hope a reckoning is coming for the right!

Probably a good thing comments are going away. Lots of bs talking points are going to have to be printed to try and sway the voters to the right.

Its better if those talking points become insulated from scrutiny.
