Randy A. Oldaker, 58, of Parkersburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 22, 2014, after an extended illness. He was dearly loved by his family and all who knew him. Although weak in body, he was strong in faith and never ashamed of his faith in Christ.
He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, along with his twin brother, Sandy, on Dec. 24, 1955, a son of Norma Boord Oldaker of Parkersburg, and the late Herman Frederick Oldaker.
Randy dedicated his life in the service to others by participation within the body of Christ at the First Assembly of God where he attended, as well as through public education at WVU at Parkersburg, where he taught for over 30 years. He was head of the Language Department and taught a variety of languages. He loved traveling abroad and had visited many countries, as well as teaching in Japan for two years prior to teaching at WVU-P.
He is survived by his mother, Norma Oldaker; brother, Sandy Oldaker and his wife Tammy; and niece, Kendra Oldaker Larkins and her husband Devin, and their daughter, Sophia Grace Larkins. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman F. Oldaker, 82, just three weeks prior on May 31, 2014.
We would like to thank all at the First Assembly of God for their prayers and comfort during these times, and his students at WVU-P, past and present, for their prayers and well-wishes.
Randy had requested there be no funeral services and will be buried at Evergreen South Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, will be assisting the family with arrangements.
