Robert Woodrow "Woody" Davis, 89, of Belpre, Ohio, formerly of Petroleum, W.Va., departed this life on June 11, 2014, at his residence, four months to the day of his beloved wife Wilma's passing.
Woody was born June 13, 1924, in West Union, W.Va., the son of the late Clifford and Grace (Putnam) Davis.
He was retired after 30 years of working in maintenance and production for the former Union Carbide plant, and was a proud WWII veteran of the U.S. Army where he was stationed in the Pacific in New Guinea and the Philippines.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Frederick (Ron) of Belpre, Ohio; son-in-law, Roger Hilkey of Ellenboro, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Robert Hilkey (Rosie) of Harrisville, James D. Williams of Colorado, Jeffrey Williams of Nevada, Amanda Sampson (Shane) of Tuppers Plains, Ohio, and Aimee Metz (Lucas) of Belpre, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Chyanna Hilkey, Mason Sampson, Anna Sampson and Bella Metz; and sisters, Diora Metz of Parkersburg and Nanny Kenney of Amesville, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Edith (Boston) Davis, in February 2014; daughters, Sharon Williams and Barbara Hilkey; and six brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service to honor Woody's life will be 5 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Lucas Metz officiating. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the funeral home.
