Billy Dean Bowers, 74, of Parkersburg passed away April 28, 2014.
He was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Forest City, Iowa, a son of the late Dwight Sidney and Hazel James Ford Bowers. He was a millwright/pipe-fitter at Century Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va. He was a member of Steelworkers Local Union 5668 in Ravenswood and a member of Ashton Lodge 12, A.F. & A.M. in Ravenswood. He was also a member of Cottageville Chapter 16 OES and Knights Templar. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed outdoor activities.
He is survived by daughters, Tammy Opel of Parkersburg and Karen (Mike) Stewart of Acworth, Ga.; son, James (Tanya) Bowers of Sherman, W.Va.; sister, Annie (Carroll) Bennett of Ravenswood; brother, Ronnie (Margaret) Bowers of Montana; grandchildren, Scott, Morgan, Mitchell, Quinn, Tia, Tristan, Rowan and Sagen; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jack Patton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse of 46 years, Sue; daughter, Terri; son, Brandon; granddaughter, Meagon; and infant brother, James.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Pastor Don Maxson officiating. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery with a Masonic graveside service provided by Ashton Lodge 12, A.F. & A.M., Ravenswood. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
