PARKERSBURG - The Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Friday rescheduled Monday's Business Expo and Business After Hours due to concerns of inclement weather.
Chamber president and CEO Jill Parsons said the event, originally scheduled for Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the E.L.I.T.E. Center, has been rescheduled for Monday, April 28.
"Please know this was not an easy decision," Parsons said. "But as we continued to watch the weather reports for Sunday and Monday, it became apparent that Mother Nature is not done with the Mid-Ohio Valley just yet.
"Our goal is to have a successful event for our sponsors, our exhibitors and our attendees and threat of bad weather could negatively impact the attendance of both exhibitors and attendees," she said.
Parsons said those organizations that have reserved a booth will have their booth reservation honored for the April 28 reschedule date.
Matt Tranquill, advertising director of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and Expo chairman, said organizers reached the decision Friday afternoon to reschedule the event.
"We appreciate all of our business partners and the public understanding that we had a great event planned for this Monday. We feel that it is better to make sure that everyone is safe during this inclement weather," he said.
Organizers look forward to seeing everyone in April, he said.
The Expo is expected to follow the same format on April 28. From 4-6 p.m., the event will be open to Chamber members only. During this time, The News and Sentinel will host a special Business After Hours for Chamber members to meet and talk with another during the first two hours of the event.
From 6-8 p.m., the Expo will be open to Chamber members and the general public. Admission is free.
