Larry Gene Deems, 72, of Washington, W.Va., passed away Feb. 14, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Harry B. and Rita Bernice Parsons Deems.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of Baptist Temple in Parkersburg. L.G. enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen S. Deems; six children, Johnna K. Deems (Secoy Bourgeois), Brian W. Deems, Robert W. Deems (Julie), Mike N. Secoy, Patrick A. Secoy and Nathen R. Secoy; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Schroder (Walt) and Sandy Deems Simmons; one brother, James F. Deems (JoAnn); sister-in-law, Sheila Deems; a "sister-like" cousin, Norma Jean Lemon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert L. Deems, Harry David Deems and Richard C. Deems; and one sister, Joan Deems Rebholz.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service Thursday.
