Katherine Ann Moses, 53, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sept. 5, 2013.
She was born in Danville, Ill., the daughter of the late Leo and Harriet Jean (Hartley) Carsner.
She graduated from Marshall University in 1982, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. After graduation, she taught math for one year at Blennerhassett Junior High School and then relocated to Morgantown, where she taught in the Monongalia County School System for seven years. After retiring from teaching, she volunteered in boosters for her kids' sports and Red Wings.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Gregory Jerome Moses; two sons, Mark Moses of Morgantown and Brian Moses of Parkersburg; a daughter, Amy Jackson and her husband, Matthan, of Lewisburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Daniel Carsner of St. Marys, W.Va., and Scott Carsner and his wife, Kris, of Mineral Wells; a nephew, Ryan Carsner; and two nieces, Kristin and Nicole Carsner.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jim Plyburn officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and from 1-2 p.m. Sunday prior to the services.
