Orpha Opal Beach, 96, of Parkersburg, went to Heaven on the Wings of Angels surrounded by her family from the Willows Nursing Center, Sept. 3, 2013.
She was born at Belleville, a daughter of the late Charlie Edward and Ora Della Life Holliday.
Orpha was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Class and the Star of Hope Circle of the United Methodist Women.
She retired from Dils Department Store and was a former employee of the American Viscose and the Wood County Board of Educatiion. She enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress.
Surviving is her son, Bob (Kitty) Beach and her two daughters, Judy (Hank) Oldaker and Sandy (Mike) Smedley all of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, Sherry Cain of Ocala, Fla., Kristy (Mark) Keeney of Parkersburg, Tammy (John) Moore of Parkersburg, Brian (Michele) Smedley of Mineral Wells, Scott Beach of Parkersburg, and Lori (Jason) Enoch of Mineral Wells; eight great-grandchildren, Heather (Cody) Miller, Zack (Holly) Cain, Jessica Moore, Toria Moore, Olivia Smedley, Bryce Smedley, Matthew Enoch and Joshua Enoch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Claude E. Beach whom she married on Feb. 20, 1937 by the Rev. I.S. Maddahgh, a grandson, Larry Scott Oldaker, a brother, Carl Holliday and three sisters, Maggie Cross, Lillie Beach and Virtie May Holliday.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg. Pastor Dave Stilgenbauer will officiate and burial will follow at the Evergreen South Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday an hour prior to the service.
