BELPRE - The Belpre City Schools District Board of Education selected Janine Satterfield as interim treasurer during a special meeting Monday.
The position will be filled temporarily by Satterfield until the board can hire a permanent treasurer for the beginning of the 2013-14 school year.
Satterfield said since she retired two years ago she has served as an interim treasurer for Fort Frye, Marietta and Switzerland of Ohio school districts.
She said she can pick up on how the board functions because all of the school boards she has worked with operate about the same way.
Satterfield began fulfilling her job with the school district by calling roll for the approval of each item on the agenda Monday. All members were present with the exception of Leonard Wiggins.
"Janine was the county office treasurer," board member Mike Wile said. "For (six months) she did both the county and career center."
Satterfield retired in March 2011 from the Washington County Career Center where she served as treasurer to the Washington County Joint Vocational Board.
Eva Elliott resigned from the Belpre treasurer's position, effective at the end of July.
The board went into an executive session Monday to discuss the employment of personnel.
In other business, board members approved the onetime payment of $2,500 to David Mounts for moving expenses. Mounts was hired last month as the high school assistant principal having come from Madison Local School District, officials said. The costs will be expenses he will encounter for moving to the district.
"I know that he's looking for rental property," Wile said.
