Ruth Pauline Elswick Buckley, 94, of Belpre, Ohio, died Jan. 4, 2013.
She was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Belva, W.Va., the daughter of the late James Henry Elswick Sr. and Grace Olive Skaggs Elswick.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved children, and taught Sunday School for 50 years. She was a longtime member of Belpre Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by six children, Judith (Ray) Wiblin, Arlene (Dan) Swihart, Karen (Gary) Martin, Donna (Jerry) Deems, Janet (Albert) Nelson and Phillip (Susan) Buckley; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Everett (Sue) Elswick; and five sisters, Stella (Harrison) Auxier, Della Brannon, Eva (Edward) Miller, Evelyn (Lane) Ellis and Naomi (Lester) Myers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Samuel D. Buckley; three brothers; and one sister.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave., Belpre, Ohio, with the Rev. Maria Wiblin (granddaughter), the Rev. Rod Brower and the Rev. Paul McGuire officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rockland Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre.
