There are over 100 applicants for every elementary teaching job that opens in our area. There isn't a shortage of good qualified teachers. Wood county has 3 teachers still layed off from last year and just cut 14 more jobs on top of that. Teach for America is not needed.

A Professor of Education told his students 40 years ago that seniority was weighted too heavily. "Some teachers have 5 years' experience; other teachers have 1 year's experience 5 times." If you're not pushing beyond what you've done, you're not earning your seniority.

You have hundreds of vacancies due to no one applying for the jobs due to the low pay. Where's all those qualified Teachers at "Earl Ray?" I bet Tomblin's cronies get pay raises this year. People bash teachers but good ones need rewarded. Just keep running them off with the poor pay and bashing. The higher pay, the better chance of hiring better employes, in all state jobs!

How hard is that to figure out?
