Do your part to beautify downtown Parkersburg by participating in Downtown PKB’s mini-cleanup days. Held for a couple of hours, one day a month, April through October, each will focus on an area or areas that need a little TLC.

HOW THEY WORK:

Each month, Downtown PKB will put out information on social media about the upcoming cleanup day and ask community members to assist them with trash pickup and pulling weeds. Downtown PKB, along with the Wood County Solid Waste Authority, provides the supplies needed for the cleanup – gloves, trash bags, reflective vests and a biohazard box. At the end of the cleanup, staff from the City of Parkersburg will collect the bags of trash and dispose of them.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

We welcome anyone – individuals, businesses, youth groups, etc., who are willing to volunteer for a couple of hours and can work unsupervised. Call the Downtown PKB office at 304-865-0522 or email us at amanda@downtownpkb.com or jessica@downtownpkb.com and let us know you are coming.

The dates and times for future cleanup days are:

* May 11: 9-11 a.m., meet at Bicentennial Park.

* June 13: 2-4 p.m.

* July 19: 9-11 a.m.

* Aug. 16: 9-11 a.m.

* Sept. 20: 9-11 a.m.

* Oct. 13: 2-4 p.m.

Meeting locations will be announced on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

During the May cleanup day, we will also be planting flowers in our flower pots scattered around downtown. We will meet at Bicentennial Park at 9 a.m.

We are still looking for volunteers who are willing to sponsor a flower pot or group of flower pots (plant, water and weed) from May through September.
