Downtown PKB thanks beautification sponsors

City beautification is important for a variety of reasons. Not only does it make a downtown area and city streets and centers more welcoming to the community, but it also increases tourism, has a positive effect on property values and has been linked to a decreased crime rate. Urban planning and development often include looking for ways to keep cities and towns safer and appealing to tourists.

Our efforts over the past six years have inspired a movement of like-minded individuals working behind the scenes to begin the transformation, with the addition of decorative banners and gateway signage, public art installations with our selfie stations, and many other projects and events for the downtown community.

Last week the staff from Greenscape Landscape Co. and Butcher Family Farms installed our new flower baskets on Market Street. The flowers will be maintained this summer by Jimmy Dickson at Greenscape through financial support from our Partner Program. Each sponsor sign was handmade by the artists from the Artbeat Studio at the Wood County Society.
