Happy Little Fun Run coming to downtown Parkersburg
Enjoy an outing in downtown Parkersburg courtesy of the Parkersburg Art Center. As a sponsor of this event, we are thrilled to be involved and want to help spread the word. We recently met up with Jessie Siefert, Managing Director/Education Director at the Parkersburg Art Center, to discuss their upcoming event, Happy Little Fun Run.
* Tell us about the theme of the Happy Little Fun Run? Why did you choose it?
A: PAC Board of Trustees members, Kasey Snyder and Kelley Cartwright, came up with this idea. They both love to stay active, love the Art Center, and love Bob Ross.
* How will the race work virtually?
You pre-register for the race on our website https://www.parkersburgartcenter.org/happy-little-fun-run. If you register by April 15, your race packet will be ready for pick-up by May 1. Run or walk a 5K wearing your race gear during the month of May. Take photos in your Happy Little Fun Run gear and send them to us at email@example.com to be eligible for prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the end of May.
* Tell us about the racecourse and its significance.
A: We are providing a map that will take runners past all seven of the selfie stations sponsored by Downtown PKB. This is our way of bringing attention to the art that has been popping up throughout downtown Parkersburg over the past couple of years.
* Are there any other highlights of this event you would like to share?
A: The race swag is very cool. Our Pottery Studio is making the race medals that look like little paint pallets. Board member, Carol Bidstrup, is hand printing the race bibs with numbers. Race bibs will also come with a set of paints and a paintbrush. Participants are encouraged to paint their bibs and send us those photos! We WILL be offering a prize for the best-decorated bib!
* What is the entry fee and what will each participant receive for that?
A: The entry fee is $45. Registration for the Happy Little Fun Run will get you a virtual race kit that includes: Happy Little Fun Run shirt, artfully made one of a kind race medal, PAC sticker, DIY paintable race bib and paints, free wine voucher from the Blennerhassett Hotel (for those 21 and over), and a 5k race map starting and ending at the Parkersburg Art Center (free parking at the Art Center).
* If you are interested in participating, how do you register and what is the deadline?
A: We are encouraging everyone to register before April 15 so we can order the requested shirt sizes and handmake the race medals and bibs in time for May 1 pick-up. However, we will keep registration open throughout the month of April. Go to https://www.parkersburgartcenter.org/happy-little-fun-run and follow the prompts.
Downtown PKB and McCarter Health Center are sponsors of this family-friendly event. The Art Center is so pleased to have sponsors that support our mission and the community.
The race is a fundraiser for the Parkersburg Art Center. Funds raised will be used to purchase supplies that support arts outreach programs in our seven-county service area. So, gear up, paint some happy little trees on your race bib, put on your running shoes, and hit the pavement!
