Downtown PKB launches Fill the Glass campaign
Downtown PKB’s Taste of Parkersburg typically serves as the official kickoff to summer for our vendors and participants. We love all the planning and preparations that come together to make for a fun-filled evening in Bicentennial Park. Those who attend love the tasty samples from area restaurants, sip on their favorite wine or beer and listen to sounds of our great entertainers.
At the end of March, Downtown PKB made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Taste of Parkersburg until 2021 due the COVID-19 restrictions on mass gatherings. We, like so many other non-profit organizations that plan festivals and events across the country, have made similar decisions, and are currently working on ways to remain solvent with the loss of revenue from sponsorship, ticket sales and membership dues.
Downtown PKB has been collaborating weekly via Zoom with local non-profit directors and our Main Street peers to discuss ways we can work together to navigate these unchartered waters. Our community depends on the service and missions of our local non-profits.
Funds that are typically raised from the Taste of Parkersburg help our organization fund our beautification projects, decorative pole banners, selfie stations and public art installations for downtown. They also help to promote and support of downtown business and organizations. In an effort to help our organization raise funds to carry out our initiatives, we decided to hold our very first online giving campaign.
Fill the Glass is a virtual fundraiser to help support Downtown PKB’s mission. We are asking those who love attending the Taste of Parkersburg or any of our events to consider helping us to Fill the Glass now through May 30. Online donations are underway and can be made by going to our website at www.downtownpkb.com and click on the donate button. Donations can also be made by mail to Downtown PKB, P.O. Box 1671 Parkersburg, WV 26102.
All of our donors that help “Fill the Glass” will receive a personal thank you note with an exclusive “I Filled the Glass” TOP 2020 wine glass cling and be entered into a drawing to win four entry tickets to the 2021 Taste of Parkersburg. The winner will be selected and announced on Monday, June 1, on our Facebook page.
We appreciate the community’s support of our past events and are anticipating the 2021 Taste of Parkersburg. We also want to thank our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, Partner Program members and community that have already donated to help “Fill the Glass.” We hope you’ll consider donating too!
