WVU-P, MOV Chamber hosting Google webinar

* 1-3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4

* Drive a Holiday Shopping Rush for your Business

* Workforce & Economic Development Building at WVU-Parkersburg (300 Campus Drive, Parkersburg)

“I don’t need to attend the Google training because I don’t sell items on the internet.”

“I don’t need to attend the Google training because I mostly do business primarily with other businesses, not the general public.”

“I don’t even have a website, why do I need to attend the Google training?”

“I’m not a retail business.”

You already know where I’m going with those arguments, don’t you? All four are the perfect candidates to attend the Google webinar we are partnering with West Virginia University at Parkersburg to coordinate. Let me tell you why.

Kick start your customers’ holiday shopping season by marketing your business. We’ll discuss how to get in front of your customers and showcase what you offer using Google My Business, Google Ads, and more.

Not a retail business? Guess what?!!

This training will also be a great option for non-profit organizations who hold year-end fundraising drives and any business who wants to get things ready for next year with a fresh update to your Google presence.

We will wrap up the webinar with roundtable discussions so that attendees can talk through challenges and best practices with one another.

Back to the original arguments about why they should or shouldn’t attend:

Whether you sell items on the internet or not, if you have a product or service that you want to grow to all of your audiences, it is very important that people can find you. Not physically “find” out, but digitally. They want to “Google” you to see what your storefront looks like on Google maps. They want to look up your hours of business — maybe it’s a holiday and they are off work and want to confirm that you are open. Chances are that the majority of people are going to look you up on their smart phone or computer before ever picking up the phone to call and ask if you are open. Don’t make it hard for your customers to find out about you and to do business with you. The short time it will take to set up your Google profile will be tremendously beneficial.

Even B2B (business to business) potential opportunities can be as a result of a Google search. A colleague tells you about a business they just worked with on a project. It might also apply to your business — what’s the first thing you do? You look them up on a search engine. No website? Not the end of the world for some clients, but a basic presence should be there at a minimum.

A laptop computer is needed to have the best experience with this workshop. We strongly encourage you to bring your own, but a limited number of laptops will be available. Please indicate on the registration form if you are needing a laptop or if you have one you can bring with you.

Seating is limited to 50 attendees. The deadline to register is Oct. 1.

Cost is $15 per person and refreshments will be served.

Registration link available at www.movchamber.org under the Calendar of Events
