Taste of PKB kicks off summer events

We are less than a week away from kicking off Downtown PKB’s signature event — Taste of Parkersburg. One of the area’s favorite summer events, the Taste brings together dozens of the area’s best restaurants, local wineries and breweries and live entertainment — all in downtown Parkersburg.

On Saturday, June 1 at 5 p.m., Bicentennial Park will be ready for the Taste of Parkersburg in its 14th year. For those of you unfamiliar with the Taste, here is more information about the event!

When and where is The Taste of Parkersburg? Saturday, June 1 from 5-11 p.m. at the corner of 3rd & Market Streets.

What can you expect? A beautiful night outdoors, right next to the historic Blennerhassett Hotel, to enjoy the ultimate culinary experience where you’ll have the opportunity to sip and savor unique samples from each of our vendors.

Once you enter the gates, you’ll receive a complimentary wine glass or beer pilsner (your choice) to use for your drinks throughout the evening. Courtesy of some great sponsors, you can also pick up a butler tray to use for the evening, while supplies last.

Live music will fill Bicentennial Park and typically over 2,000 people attend. This year’s entertainment lineup includes local group Track 9 debuting at their first Taste of Parkersburg, the soulful sounds of Lady D and wrapping up the evening with the return of the Dennis McClung Blues Band.

How does it work? Once you have your entry ticket (just $15 when purchased in advance or $20 at the gate), you will purchase vendor coupons, (One sheet includes 20 coupons for $20 or a half sheet of 10 coupons for $10). Each sample (food, wine or beer) will require a different number of coupons. You’ll use your coupons to “buy” the samples so no need to worry about cash throughout the night.

Which restaurants will be there? While the full list of wines and beers is still being confirmed, we can share the restaurants that have committed:

* Aladdin Food Management

* Belair’s Bistro & Catering

* Bohio Mexican Grill

* Brunello Restaurant & Bar

* Camden Clark Medical Center’s Cafe

* The Changed Plate

* Chams Lebanese Restaurant

* The Coffee Bar

* El Mariachi

* Holl’s Chocolates Inc.

* Hot Dog Willy’s

* Mulberry Lane

* Parkersburg Brewing Company

* Philippines Best

* Tampico Mexican Restaurant

Where can I purchase tickets? Advance tickets are $15 and are available online at downtownpkb.com or at various locations such as the coffee bar at the Blennerhassett Hotel through Friday, May 31. You can also buy them at the gate on June 1st but the cost will be $20.

What else should I know? Soft drinks and water will also be available for purchase for those who are not interested in drinking wine or beer. All attendees must present a photo ID and will receive a corresponding bracelet to wear during the event.
