Letter to the Editor: Support growth with levy

(Letter to the Editor - Graphic Illustration/MetroCreativeConnection)

In November, we will be tasked with making a decision that will affect our city for years to come. After serving this community for over 30 years, it is my opinion that the school levy on the ballot will be the most important issue facing the city, our home. Your city government, Chamber of Commerce, has been working very hard to attract new businesses and opportunities to our great little city. Without adequate schools we cannot attract these new employees to live here. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the opportunity of encouraging some of the new doctors to join us on the school board? How about city council or Rotary or our chamber?

In my heart I believe with what Marietta Memorial and WVU Medicine, along with the Mondo Group are bringing to our town the last piece of the puzzle and truly the most important will be new schools. We have the beautiful river, the best parks around and now many new jobs on the horizon. Our children deserve better, we as a community can do better, so let’s band together and provide the one element that is missing: modern facilities that help our children grow and prosper. The future of Belpre and our children is in your hands. Let’s vote Yes in November for new schools.
