Respecting the flag

As I drive around the region I’ve noticed a few U.S. flags hanging upside down. My first thought was wondering what their problem is. Then I saw another “flag” hanging next to them, which supported the loser of the last election. It all started to make sense then. They were upset that their guy lost and disrespecting the flag was the best way they could express themselves.

While it’s not law, the U.S. Flag Code does state, “The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.” Let me kindly say that your hurt feelings do not equate to “dire distress.” Let me also assure you that your life and property are not in danger either.

If I may also ask that you please take those MAGA rags down a few inches. They don’t deserve to be flown at the same height as the U.S. Flag. People of all political affiliations have fought under the U.S. Flag and the cult of Trump doesn’t get exclusive claim to it.
