Another gambling place?
Petitions are being circulated to citizens requesting the Planning Commission deny Christine Bender, owner of DaVinci’s restaurant a variance to add a gaming facility in the proposed development on the restaurant lot, bringing in buses. We do not want our town to be known for gambling!
Property values in the entire city will be devalued. Increased revenue at what cost to our citizens and community?
The DECISION magazine December issue, page 17 states the negative effects of predatory drug and gambling industries on communities and families. The article further stated pastors and church leaders must be ready to step into the gap for their communities and oppose the expansion of these industries. The many gambling facilities in Williamstown were grandfathered in.
The Committee for Concerned Citizens of Williamstown does not want anymore gambling facilities in our town, now or in the future. Meeting of Planning Commission is Dec. 28 at 7:30 at the City Municipal building unless moved to a larger meeting space. Call the city and voice your opinion 304-375-7761.
Let’s keep our small town great for future generations!
