Setting a dark stage
Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Grassley and the Republicans opposed the appointment of a justice to the Supreme Court until after the 2016 elections. McConnell stated in 2016 prior to the presidential elections it should be the voters’ decision in filling the Supreme Court vacancy.
Instead, President Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, was held hostage by Mitch McConnell’s partisan politics.
Why, is it that the vacancy on the Supreme Court should be filled immediately in 2020?
Instead the Republicans refuse to apply that same principal that the sitting president (if a vacancy occurs during a Presidential election) should not nominate a candidate for the Supreme Court.
McConnell stated, “let the people decide” by their votes to determine the next president. McConnell and the Republicans are trying to remove the bipartisanship necessary for a fair and balanced Supreme Court — a court that should protect our checks and balances outlined within the constitution. It appears that it’s for political power, rather than equal representation and the will of the voters.
This is setting the stage for Donald Trump to move further toward a dictatorship. A partisan Republican court can pass rulings that will eliminate our rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
I encourage all to read our Declaration of Independence. It tells of a tyrant that oppressed the people, was an authoritarian, fascist dictator that hated freedom and democracy. And, why America became America; why our founding fathers swore an oath of allegiance to each other.
“For the support of this Declaration, Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.’
