Back the Blue rally great
On behalf of the men and women who are serving our local communities as police officers, I would like to take a moment to thank those responsible for creating the “Back the Blue Rally,” which was held in Parkersburg July 18.
The turnout and show of support of our local police officers was amazing! During a time where police officers are under attack across our nation, both figuratively and literally, the “Back the Blue Rally” was especially meaningful. It came at a time when the morale of our officers needed to be lifted.
We want to especially thank Parkersburg Council members Sharon Kuhl, Bob Mercer and Eric Barber for their efforts to organize this event and their constant support. We very much appreciate the resolutions of support from the City of Parkersburg; the Wood County Commission; and Gov. Jim Justice.
Thanks are also in order to those who helped sponsor the event with supplies and donations, especially Mister Bee of Parkersburg and The Shirt Factory. We appreciate the elected officials who took time to attend the event to show their support. And we want to thank Pastor Lamb, Pastor Eubanks, the emcee/host Doug Flint and the members of the Marine Corps League for their involvement.
Our heroes of the day were the huge crowd of citizens who came out and braved the heat to show their support of local law enforcement officers. The applause, the signs along Market Street and the great attendance are very much appreciated by all of our officers.
On behalf of members of the Fraternal Order of Police Blennerhassett Lodge 79 of Wood County, please accept our most sincere Thank you!
President FOP Blennerhassett
