Trump laying dark groundwork

We have been hearing a lot of disinformation coming from POTUS #45 about how making it easier and safer for Americans to vote by mail will result in a “rigged” election. This brought to mind the Nov. 7, 2000 presidential election between Al Gore and George W. Bush. As the Electoral College vote took shape on election night in 2000, it was clear the vote in Florida was going to determine not only the winner of that state’s 25 electoral votes, but also the next President. Although Gore won the popular vote nationwide by a half-million votes, the Electoral count was so close that whoever won Florida would be the new President.

After calling the race in favor of Gore, the networks began getting phone calls from Republicans and Fox News. On Nov. 8, it was still unclear who would be the next POTUS until Florida secretary of state Katherine Harris stepped in. She was an ally of Republican Gov. Jeb Bush and had been co-chair of the nominee’s statewide campaign. Harris announced that Bush had won Florida, which meant he would be president. Gore called for a re-count and the Republicans objected. There were confusing punch-card ballots where the voters attempting to make their choice had only succeeded in detaching a portion of the perforated paper “hanging chads.”

When Harris refused to count those ballots and certified Bush the winner, the Democrats sued to force a recount, which was upheld by the Florida Supreme Court. The Republicans appealed that ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court, which voted 7-2 to end the Florida court’s ordered recount. The U.S. Supreme Court was composed of eight nominees of Republican presidents and one nominee of a Democratic president. Al Gore had more popular votes then Bush and had a recount been allowed and not “rigged” by the biased Florida Sec. of State Harris, Fox News, and a Supreme Court appointed almost entirely by Republican presidents, Gore would have been president. What is so sinister about Trump is that he is already laying the ground work that the 2020 election will be rigged. His calling for the U.S. military to be used against peaceful protesters, his putting up a fence with barbed wire around the White House and his hiding out in its bunker are all indicators that he will not accept the vote of the American people come this November.

Then what?
