‘Be Still My Soul’
As the earth and mankind pause for a brief time to renew strength, let us keep in mind the text to the song “Be Still My Soul,” words written by Katharina Von Schiegal in 1697.
“Be still, my soul, the Lord is on they side
With patience bear thy grief and pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change he faithful will remain …
Be still my soul, thy Lord doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake …
Be still my soul, the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.”
As well as reflecting, let’s imagine. Let’s look out our windows and pretend all that rain we’ve seen is really snow. And the city is under state of emergency due to the snow. Let’s go enjoy our hot chocolate and plan for good days ahead.
