Job Fair: Take opportunity to explore career path

October marked the first of what WorkForce West Virginia officials say will be many monthly statewide virtual job fairs, continuing through June 2023.
It is a chance for job seekers to send applications, live chat or video chat and even interview virtually with employers who are participating.
“There are going to be employers there and listed. Each of those employers has a virtual job fair booth and the job seekers can select any booth,” Maureen Persons, director of employment services division for WorkForce West Virginia, told WV MetroNews.
Given that West Virginia’s labor force participation rate for August was a pitiful 55.2%, perhaps such events will lure a few back into the workplace, as those employers who are willing to partner with the state in their search for workers surely understand only the best employers attract the best employees.
If you are looking, head to workforcewv.org, or email workforcewvvirtualjobfairevent@wv.gov to find out more about registration. You’ll want to dress professionally and have an uploadable resume ready; but the event itself is free for both employers and potential employees.
This is just one step of many we must take as a state to revive not just our economy, but our workforce. There’s another one coming up Nov. 2, folks. Don’t miss it.
