Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

UP: To Parkersburg South High School math teacher Sara Klesel, one of 19 Mountaineer Mathematics Master Teachers Noyce Fellows. She will be part of a project to build on previous efforts to support secondary mathematics teacher leadership and instructional improvement across West Virginia. “It’s an honor to be part of the M3T project. I am excited about the work we are doing, and hope it impacts student learning and teacher leadership in mathematics across the state,” Klesel said. Congratulations.

UP: To the GFWC Parkersburg Woman’s Club, which was able to pivot and continue to work on projects for the community while protecting the safety and health of members. While carrying on drive-thru and live-streamed events and meetings, the group continued to support a litany of community projects ranging from education and libraries work to providing toiletries, candies and socks to veterans. Thank you, ladies.

UP: To those at local health departments who are working to wade through the confusion and quickly get as many people vaccinated against COVID-19 as possible. The fight to save those lives is immeasurably important. And as the state and National Guard work their way through the distribution process, you are providing not only that life line, but hope. Our communities are grateful for you.
