Food Drive: Donate to help feed local seniors
For six months, Mid-Ohio Valley residents have gotten a pretty good look at just how close too many local families are to the brink when it comes to food security. As the weather turns, the most vulnerable among us will be even more likely to struggle.
As they always do, Comfort Keepers is trying to keep that from happening. This year’s Feed Seniors Now Food Drive is aiming for the collection of 6,000 pounds of food. It should be possible. Last year they collected 5,000 pounds.
“For seniors in our community, living the highest quality of life starts with having their basic needs met,” said David Yeomans, CEO of the local Comfort Keepers. “We cannot fight every factor affecting hunger, but we can start here in our community by creating awareness about the issue collecting and distributing donations and educating families about the signs of hunger and malnutrition in their senior loved ones.”
Whether it be a monetary contribution, donations to a collection site or even ordering food online that is shipped to Comfort Keepers, most local residents can find some way to make a difference. The good you do is magnified by the resources of Comfort Keepers and FaithLink, as they work to make sure no local senior goes hungry.
